The FA24 engine in the 2022+ WRX now uses an electronically controlled factory diverter in place of the pneumatic bypass valve found on all previous turbo Subaru engines. This is controlled by the ECU, and whilst it sounds like an advancement in technology, in some ways it is a step backwards. It may react to throttle closures faster than a pneumatic valve, but longevity and boost sealing is an issue with these types of valve because their valve mechanism is made entirely of moulded plastic. Importantly though, the factory electronic valve cannot open and close progressively - it's either open or shut, resulting in less than optimum throttle response and drivability.
High Performance Diverter Valve with low-profile integrated solenoid. Offers sharper throttle response, faster boost recovery on gearshift, and improved boost holding

Like all valves in the DV+ family, the T9381 offers significant benefits over factory-fitted electronic diverter valves * sharper throttle response, faster boost recovery on gearshift or brief...
ALL THE PERFORMANCE WITH OR WITHOUT THE NOISE! GFB's Mach 2 utilises GFB's proven TMS Technology to ensure rapid boost recovery on gearshift and optimum throttle response, as well as the ability to...
The factory BPV (bypass valve) has a couple of key shortcomings in construction and operation. First of all, tuned engines running high boost also produce a lot of heat in the charge air. Because the...
